Why do i keep getting injured?
Find out why pain, injuries and flare-ups keep happening and what needs to change to stop the cycle.
Why does your body keep ending up in pain?
Maybe it’s the back pain that settles, only to flare up again. A knee you manage, but it stops you being at your best. Or you recover from one injury only for another problem to appear.
If you’ve found yourself wondering “why do I keep getting injured?”, the Pain Pattern Blueprint looks beyond where it hurts to uncover the patterns you can’t always see.
We will make the invisible, visible.
You know where it hurts. You may even have a diagnosis or been told what’s tight, weak, irritated or needs strengthening.
But that doesn’t tell you why it became a problem.
Pain often develops when something is being asked to handle more than it can comfortably cope with. That’s the bit you can’t see.
Why are certain areas regularly overloaded? Why can your body cope with something one day but not another? And what keeps recreating the same problem?
Your Pain Pattern Blueprint looks at 4 key areas
to build the full picture
How you move
Where does your body move well and where is being asked to do more than it’s fair share, creating unnecessary strain?
How well you recover
Are you recovering well enough between demands, or repeatedly asking your body for more than it currently has capacity for?
The demands on your body
How high are the total demands on your body? Not just training, total load from sport, work and everyday life.
Habits & Patterns
What are you repeatedly doing that unknowingly adds unnecessary load, keeps you stuck or slows your progress?
Instead of just knowing where you hurt, you start to understand why your body keeps ending up there and what you can change.
"I definitely felt in safe hands"
“I was amazed at how thorough the MOT was. Every possible measurement was taken to find any misalignments in my body. I definitely felt in safe hands – Julie really know what she is doing”
Rick, Ramsbottom
What happens if you keep treating each problem separately?
You can reduce and relieve the pain. Strengthen the area. Rest until it feels better. Get back to training.
And sometimes that’s enough.
But if the same patterns underneath haven’t changed, it’s easy to end up back in the same cycle. The same problem returns, another area starts complaining, or you gradually change what you do to avoid setting it off.
You get better at dealing with each problem without ever understanding why your body keeps creating them.
Your body makes decisions for you
- You choose the shorter route.
- You stop signing up for things.
- You suffer on or avoid the downhills.
- You train more cautiously
Eventually what you think of as “normal for me” gets smaller.
But many of the niggles, flare-ups and limitations we think are inevitable don’t have to be.
You don't have to settle for smaller
You can’t prevent all problems. But you can learn to build a body that’s much better at dealing with them.
You can learn to notice small changes and take the right action early. Instead of ignoring them until they escalate. You know how to recover quicker and more fully, not accept pain gone as job done.
When your body isn’t constantly compensating, recovering from the last problem or carrying unnecessary strain, it’s capable of more.
More freedom. More confidence. More of the things you enjoy. Whether that means bigger days out, harder challenges or simply living life without the constant worry of pain.
THE BLUEPRINT IS THE FIRST STEP. UNDERSTAND THE PATTERN NOW, SO YOU CAN START CHANGING WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AND BUILDING A DIFFERENT FUTURE.
What happens when you book
Assessment
We start by building the full picture.
How your whole body moves and where it’s under unnecessary strain.
How you train, your training data and live HRV to see what you’re asking of your body and how well it’s handling and recovering from those demands.
I will measure your key structures and range of movement at key joints.
So we’re not relying on one test or one part of your body to tell us the whole story.
Analysis
This is where we connect the dots.
We bring your movement, recovery, training and everyday demands together to find the patterns that explain the bigger picture.
The goal is to understand why certain areas keep becoming overloaded and what’s driving the problem.
Consultation
This is where we start to answer the question: why do I keep getting injured?
We’ll meet again and I’ll show you why certain areas of your body are taking more strain and the patterns causing your pain.
We’ll look at what would need to change, whether that’s building new movement patterns, improving how well you recover or changing some of the habits that keep adding unnecessary load.
You can decide whether you’d like my help making those changes.
Is the Pain Pattern Blueprint for you?
- You keep getting the same problem back.
- You recover from one injury only for something else to start complaining.
- You've done the rehab, exercises or strengthening but still don't completely trust your body.
- You're managing your pain well enough to stay active but you're tired of having to manage it.
- You've started avoiding certain runs, exercises, distances or activities because you don't know how your body will respond.
- Or you simply know something isn't adding up and want to understand what's actually going on.
