Hi, I'm Julie

I help people achieve the active goals that they don’t believe are possible. Whether it’s walking pain-free without crippling back pain or smashing that ultra when you thought 20 miles was your limit. 

My mission is to bust the myth that its inevitable or normal to have aches and pains everyday just because you are over 40.  That niggles are a normal part of being active.  It really doesn’t have to be. 

It comes down to the saying…..“If you do what you have always done you will get what you always got.”  

What's your idea of adventure?

I love to go on mini adventures – running and hiking, roaming on moors and climbing up mountains – that’s where I feel free. These days I like to push myself out of my comfort zone in lots of ways. Challenging my head as much as my body. When it comes to physical challenges, I do not have any sporting background.  I don’t have talent. I am not one of these pros who claims no talent and then runs a marathon in record time.  When I admired endurance athletes from a far, I did not consider that I could do anything like those things.   Living the principles I coach showed me that I was more capable than I thought. And that even as a “normal” (my friends may question this) person I could achieve the things I thought only other, special people could do.

I eat a mainly plant based diet and love all animals.  Phil is my partner in life as well as business.  We have 2 cats, who I love.  They come on mini adventure walks too. Yep. I am that woman. 

There was a time I was broken...

If we go back some years now, I was pretty broken. I thought that because I was fit that meant I was healthy. I couldn’t understand why I had all these things going wrong. Certain muscles were just getting tighter, they began to feel really uncomfortable then niggling pains started. I pushed on but ended up with more severe injuries. Lower back, hip, neck and shoulder issues. They stopped me in my tracks. No more gym, no more running, being kept awake with pain. This whole time I had other stuff – gut disturbance, regular insomnia, anxiety….

Doctors were no help. So down the rabbit hole I went…. Posture, biomechanics, holistic health, breathing… I had not realised that all my health challenges were connected. That health and fitness are 2 different things and I needed both. It changed my life and it can change yours.

Why choose me?

I understand how it feels to be where you are. been where you are. I use my experiences to support my clients every step of the way.  I live and breathe the principles I coach; I do not ask clients to do anything I haven’t done myself. I am totally invested in each and every one’ results and am utterly passionate about what I do. This is my 2nd career… I chose it and have worked my ass off for it. I am grateful for the chance to work with every single person I coach.

Yoga on its own will not fix your pain

Initially I qualified as a yoga teacher back in 2015. Yoga was a fundamental step in my journey.  It helped me manage stress and anxiety, unwind the long-held tension in my body and relate to life differently.  However, even with regular yoga practice I was still getting injured.  Over time I came to understand yoga has many strengths but it has limitations.  I needed to expand my knowledge to heal myself and to understand how to heal others.  

I was a client at the CHEK centre to see if they could resolve my neck and shoulder issue.  Their approach was revelatory and I knew this was exactly what I looking for.  Their training is a major undertaking. Each course is a huge investment of time and money. The Institute are world leaders in rehab, injury prevention and high-performance training. The calls are totally informal. It’s just a chat to understand more about you and the challenges you are facing. I can tell you a bit more about the process and how it works. There is no hard sell you do not have to book anything. You will probably want to go and mull it all over and that’s fine. The other thing to know is I only take on clients I am confident I can get a result for. I only work with a small number of clients at any one time so it has to the right fit for both of us.
