Hi, I'm Phil

I help runner’s breakthrough their frustrations and limitations so they can unlock their true potential to reach the goals that matter. 

My mission is to show the running world that expensive trainers do not make a successful runner.  A PB is not a PB if you are injured straight after.  The human body has more capabilities than any shoe, it can support you to run further and faster without injury. 

You just need to change your mindset to unlock it.

These days I tend to keep one foot on the floor

I have always had a passion for inspiring people to do things they thought they could never achieve. I have helped countless runners enjoy running many of whom were ready to give up frustrated with persistent pain and re-occurring injuries and one who was going to burn his trainers!

I was involved in competitive sport from a young age – from county level rugby and ice hockey I moved onto sports climbing and bouldering.  I still love to boulder despite a fairly serious fall off the side of a rock in Spain.  I even taught my daughter to climb and she has a real talent. But being her own person, she decided dancing was the thing for her…. I couldn’t help with that though!

I now spend most of my time outdoors running and hiking in the mountains, running trails, and competing in ultra-races. It’s a little harder these days, but I love the challenge both physically and mentally. That little voice telling you give up, just makes me work harder. It’s not just physical freedom, it’s the freedom that comes with shedding the day’s worries and living in the moment and ending with “today was a good day”.

I bring together essential pillars of Running Technique, Oxygen Advantage performance breathing and specialist foot knowledge alongside 25 years coaching skills as a professional performance behavioural coach to deliver a unique program for experienced and new runners alike. 

I have a love for minamalist and Barefoot running and know what it takes to transition down to zero.

You want to invest in preventing major injuries instead of accepting them as normal. That for me, is essential for reaching your peak potential. Believe me I’ve been there. Have I forsaken foam rolling or post run stretches? Yes and low and behold sooner or later your body says enough. If you enable your body to perform in the way it was designed to you’ll reach your potential, If you don’t then you will always ask yourself and wonder, “What if?”
